Robotic UHP — for hire only

Ship hulls and tanks. Magnetic or vacuum crawlers.

55,000 psi systems. For hire only — the robots are not for rent.

01The work

High-production UHP on large steel.

Handheld jetlances have a place at edges and appendages. On hull plate and tank shell, crawlers carry rotary UHP heads at a steady standoff. Production is higher and more consistent. Labor stays off the primary blast face.

  • SurfaceJet carries both vacuum and magnetic robotic equipment
  • Crawlers are magnetic or vacuum-adhered to the structure
  • 55,000 psi pumps are for robot applications
  • 40,000 psi pumps are used for other applications
  • Most coatings fracture at 36,000 psi or less, depending on condition and type
  • For hire only — robotic systems are not in the rental fleet

02How a job runs

Plan, adhere, jet, hand off.

01

Structure and spec

Hull, tank, or industrial steel. Coating type and condition. Cleanliness standard (WJ-1 through WJ-4). Access, drydock, or in-service constraints.

02

Adhesion and pressure

Magnetic or vacuum, depending on the structure. 55,000 psi pumps feed the robots. 40,000 psi stays on handheld and other work.

03

Who drives

SurfaceJet maintains the entire system. On some projects, trained customer operators drive the robots while SurfaceJet technicians monitor and service as required. On other projects, SurfaceJet drives and maintains the systems.

04

Handoff

Uniform cleanliness, chloride removal, contained waste. Recoating starts on a known surface.
